There are thousands of crypto sites. Most are price-prediction bait, recycled press releases, or a wall of affiliate links wearing a blog for a costume. A handful are genuinely worth your attention. This is that handful — the crypto blogs we actually read, sorted by what each one is good at rather than by who paid for the slot. We update it once a year.
The majors — news, research and data
If you only follow five things, pull from this group. These are the sites that break the story, publish the chart, or do the research the rest of the space then quotes.
- CoinDesk — Breaking news. The closest thing crypto has to a paper of record. Fast on news, broad on markets, and the indices it publishes get quoted everywhere. Start here if you want the headline before the rumour.
- Cointelegraph — Volume & breadth. Publishes a lot, covers everything, and ranks for nearly every coin you can name. Skim it for what the wider market is paying attention to today.
- The Block — Research-led reporting. News with a data desk attached. When a story needs a chart and a source rather than a hot take, this is usually where it lands first.
- Decrypt — Plain-English explainers. Readable, well-edited, and good at making a complicated thing make sense without dumbing it down. A solid first stop for anyone newer to the space.
- Bankless — DeFi & Ethereum culture. Newsletter, podcast and a worldview. Opinionated, deep on Ethereum and DeFi, and unafraid to take a position. You won't agree with all of it. That's the point.
- The Defiant — DeFi news. Tightly focused on decentralised finance — protocols, yields, exploits, governance. If DeFi is your beat, it belongs in your feed.
- Messari — Research & data. Less blog, more research terminal. The free reports and quarterly write-ups are some of the most rigorous work published in the open.
- Glassnode Insights — On-chain analysis. Where on-chain data turns into readable analysis. If you want to understand what holders are actually doing rather than what Twitter says they're doing, read this.
Independent & emerging
Smaller desks, tighter focus, more voice. They won’t out-publish the majors, and they don’t try to — they earn the bookmark by being readable and honest.
- topCryptoBlog — Filed analysis. This desk. Every piece is written for the site, reviewed before it runs, and keeps speculation labelled as speculation. No price-prediction bait, no sponsored posts.
- CoinGeeky — Explainers & market notes. Accessible crypto explainers and market commentary aimed at readers who want the idea without the jargon.
- Cryptology Bar — Market commentary. Shorter-form crypto commentary and reads for following the day-to-day without drowning in it.

- Original work. Reporting, research or analysis the site actually produced — not syndicated wire copy.
- A track record. Consistent publishing, named writers, and a history you can check.
- Reader-first. Useful before it’s monetised. No price-prediction bait, no “guaranteed” anything.
